PERFORMANCE ENGINE PLANNING & BUILDING

Street Performance & Racing Engines

When it comes to performance engine builders, Simpson Racing Solutions is the top choice for race car owners and hot rod enthusiasts alike. Our knowledge of racing, building, tuning, and dyno testing means that we will provide an engine custom-tailored to suit your needs. We are constantly learning on our in-house chassis dyno and flow bench and applying our knowledge to every build we perform.

We will design your project using proven planning techniques, years of experience, and the best selection of engine parts available to meet the needs of your late model or classic application.

Each engine assembled by SRS includes over three pages of extensive engine blueprint documentation.

This is the engine that your project deserves!

Dyno Break-In & Tuning

Critical components of each build are the break-in procedure and initial testing. At SRS, we can break in and tune a combination on our Superflow chassis dyno before it ever leaves our shop. Options are available for engine dyno testing as well. Learn more about our in-housedyno tuning!

Dyno testing allows us to tune several variables including:

  • Optimum ignition timing and advance
  • Proper intake manifold selection
  • Carburetor spacer selection
  • Carburetor size and jetting
  • Camshaft profile and timing
  • Header tube diameter and length

Break-in Tuning

Before turning over your new engine, we have the ability to perform a proper break-in procedure on our in-house chassis dyno. This is an important first step for any new engine to ensure proper piston ring seal and camshaft break-in. It also allows us to properly set up the fuel curve with our wideband oxygen sensors and optimize ignition timing and fuel jetting. Rest assured that when your new combination leaves our shop, it is ready to hit the track, strip, or street.

All-Inclusive Engine Building, Installation &Testing Services

At Simpson Racing Solutions, we do it all for you, handling your full project rather than tackling it in a piecemeal fashion. We offer an all-inclusive shop service, from removal and installation, through dyno tuning and break-in tuning; we've got you covered. We can also ship your new SRS-built engine at reasonable rates if you wish to install it yourself.

With decades of experience behind us, Simpson Racing Solutions will get you the optimal results you are looking for. We look forward to working on your performance engine project. CHASSIS DYNO TESTING & DYNO TUNING

We offer complete chassis dyno testing and tuning services on our Superflow Autodyn30 chassis dynamometer.

About Our Superflow Chassis Dyno...

Our SuperFlow AUTODYN 30 Eddy Current Dynamometer is capable of measuring up to 2,500 RWHP at over 225 mph and holding up to 1,100HP for steady-state testing. The AUTODYN 30 has the ability to adjust vehicle load. This is ideal for EFI tuning and testing various ignition timing configurations (for various gear ratios for example).

Not only do we provide horsepower and torque numbers, but we also provide objective and consistent results. Our dyno also features dual channel wide band O2 sensing and logging capabilities.

Does SRS Tune EFI Systems?

We have hands-on experience tuning many EFI platforms, including Holley, Megasquirt, ECUmaster, various OEM vehicles, and more. Occasionally we have a request to tune a platform that we are not well versed in. In these instances (and with the vehicle owner's consent), we consult with industry-leading experts to complete the tuning process remotely using the SRS dyno for data collection and analysis.

Can I Test My Racecar on the SRSChassis Dyno?

Absolutely! Just keep in mind that if you have a drag racing car with an automatic transmission and high-stall converter, the dyno data will be inaccurate below the converter stall speed. Having said that, we break in parts, test, and tune the 7-second quarter-mile E.T. SRS altered on our in-house chassis dyno. We have tested and tuned 900+ horsepower supercharged, turbocharged, and nitrous-assisted door cars and dragsters on ourchassis dyno.

What Should I Do Before Visiting the Dyno?

You will want to use our time together effectively. This means that you will want to be sure little things will not consume valuable dyno time. Here is a simple checklist that we recommend you review before visiting the SRS shop for your dyno session...

  • 1 Check and/or replace the air filter
  • 2 Check and/or replace spark plugs
  • 3 Check and/or replace ignition wires, cap, and rotor
  • 4 Fill the tank with fresh fuel
  • 5 Bring extra fuel if you wish to test various fuel types
  • 6 Check throttle linkage for wide open throttle (WOT)
  • 7 Check ignition timing
  • 8 Check engine oil, transmission oil, and differential oil
  • 9 Check the coolant level
  • 10 Check tire condition and air pressure

At SRS, we conduct a pre-dyno inspection to help ensure that the vehicle is safe and ready for dyno testing before we strap your ride down on our Superflow Autodyn 30. Here is a link to our pre-dyno checklist.
